False Brother Printers Advertising

On several TV channels this week, I’ve seen a lot of advertising for Brother printers. Their advertising can only be considered true if you use the Windows operating system. If you have decided to switch to Linux, then their advertising could not possibly be more misleading!

Their ads, of course, focus on creating an emotional experience on your TV screen. They imply that only a Brother printer can meet all your printing needs. They imply that you will be thrilled with all the colorful flyers you can produce with their high-quality printer!

But choosing a Brother printer is the worst possible choice when you are using Linux as your operating system. This is not an accident. Brother has never been “open source friendly” at all. They don’t have any significant Linux support.

If you choose Linux as your operating system, you should choose a Canon printer! The Canon website has all the open-source drivers for EVERY single one of their printers!

I have quite a bit of experience installing Brother printer drivers on Linux. And, believe me, it is NOT a fun process! And only a few Brother printer models can be made to work with Linux. Most models won’t work at all!
