Anti Trust Time Again!

Microsoft is at their game again! Evidently there’s a reason why Microsoft named their browser “Edge”! Apparently Microsoft wants to regain their “Edge” against the Linux community!

BlueHost is partnering with HostGator in order to offer more infrastructure to HostGator clients. Unfortunately, the 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) feature for logging into HostGator’s “Customer Portal” ONLY works with the “Edge” browser! And of course “Edge” ONLY runs on Windows! A BlueHost employee reported this to me.

Microsoft is very clearly engaging in an “anti competitive practice”! Microsoft intentionally designed their 2FA feature to use a new method to pop up the 2FA window. And of course they knew other browsers would not be compatible. This is not surprising to me. Microsoft has consistently acted in this manner whenever they feel like they might “get away” with it!

Well, they didn’t count on little old me…watching their every move!

So, Microsoft has two choices: Either face another anti-trust lawsuit by the DOJ (Department Of Justice), or help all the other browser companies to quickly implement a working 2FA window for themselves! The ball is now in YOUR court Microsoft! If I were you, I would do the latter, because it would add some real weight to your claim that you want to “be nice” to the open source community!

Just realized that I seem to remember a friend of mine mentioning something about “Microsoft plans for 2FA” back in 2020, when I saw him at SCaLE that year, so Microsoft may have been planning this little charade since 2020!
